Searching For Ways To Store Energy Efficiently

Our society has come to a place where it depends completely on electricity. Energy is used for just about everything from running our phones to heating our dwellings. Back before we had electricity, the light we got was created fire burning lamps and our heat came from a wood furnace. When electric power came about, we were able to immediately provide light for whole communities.

When electrical energy started to spread, many individuals were doubtful. If you take a look at today, we consume a great deal of electrical power, we are running out of the fuel to help create it. We are slowing using up many of the non-renewable sources to create electrical power so we must discover alternatives. Maybe the best form of alternative energy is solar and many scientists are looking for ways to store the energy effectively. Using a conventional method to store solar energy could bring about an unnecessary use of water and other natural resources.

The process where solar powered energy is stored in other natural resources such as water is known as thermal mass system. Renewable sources, such as dirt and water, in conjunction with man made resources like concrete, can be used to store the energy, even if only for a little while. In the evening, long after the sun has come down, your house and things, such as water, can be heated by thermal mass. These are great short-term alternatives, but at this point there are no long-term storage capabilities for solar energy. Yet another way to keeping heat from solar energy is using thermo-chemical phase. It includes various storage types such as paraffin wax and Eutectic Salts.

If you put paraffin wax inside a storage tank, the wax remains a solid while it is cold, but the moment it is heated, it becomes a liquid which will keep its heat for a long period. Even when it cools down and gets hard, the wax still has the ability to maintain heat. If you would like to use something cheap and still keep heat for long stretches is Eutectic Salts. One more effective way to save solar powered energy is by using Molten Salts, which will be used to make steam. This takes place as the salt mixture is heated during the time the storage tank is heated. The energy that is produced may be stored in rechargeable batteries which can be used for later. The most common type of battery used for this sort of storage is a lead acid battery.

There are a number of ways to keep natural energy, but so far they aren't as practical or efficient as they need to be. There'll be an infinite supply of natural heat, when methods of storage are improved upon.
